Ameztoi Rubentis Getariako Txakolina Rose

$ 28

Ameztoi Rubentis Txakolina Rose is the first rose wine from the Getariako Txakolina appellation in Spain’s Basque Country.  While others have followed suit, Ameztoi’s Rubentis is still considered the benchmark for Txakolina roses and remains the choice of sommeliers and pool-side partiers all over.  Produced by the esteemed Ameztoi winery, this is a blend of the indigenous Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza grape varieties, which thrive in the cool, ocean-side climate of the region.  The vineyards, sat atop the rolling hills that overlook the Bay of Biscay, benefit from the constant breezes that maintain the higher acidity levels and impart a pronounced minerality to the grapes.  Pale salmon-pink in color with the lightly effervescent character that is the signature of Txakoli it offers a bouquet of wild strawberries, tart raspberries, red currants, and citrus zest, complemented by the suggestion of wild flowers.  An energetic mouthfeel from the slight carbonation compounded by the bright acidity leads to an electric and refreshing experience.  Flavors of pomegranate, pink grapefruit, and green apple intermingle with briny notes, creating a playful and balanced palate.  Like its white counterpart, this rose is perfect for warm-weather enjoyment whether on its own with your toes in the sand or alongside food, going beautifully with Basque pintxos, fresh seafood, jamon, and Spanish goat cheese.
